The company was born on the golden sands of the North East coast of New Zealand in a little town called Mount Maunganui. The Mount is a well known holiday destination in the North Island of New Zealand. The warmer climate and crystal clear waters attract surfriders and boardriders alike offering swell for all levels of waterman abilities. Overseeing the mount main beach is a land mark called' 'Mauao' this mountain is sacred and the name was given to it from an old legend, the legend goes ... 

 "Mauao is the sacred mountain at the entrance to Tauranga Harbour. Its name, meaning ‘caught in the light of the day’, comes from the legend in which Mauao was once a nameless mountain, spurned in love by the beautiful mountain Pūwhenua. One night he begged the fairy-like creatures of the forest to drag him to the ocean and end his misery. But the creatures fled as the morning sun’s rays struck, and he was transfixed on the spot"
